I spend a lot of time on the train and listen to lots of podcasts. I was on the train this summer, and I happened to meet the host of the planetary society podcast: Mat Kaplan. It was like a podcast come to life! After that chance encounter I invited him to Giant Magellan Telescope’s corporate office in Pasadena. After he spoke with our Vice President, Pat McCarthy about the progress of the telescope, I gave Mat a tour of our facility and discussed how the modeling our group does plays a key component in the design of the telescope. Overall it was an amazing experience, and hopefully I can give him a tour of the actual site in Chile some day. Check out the podcast here (or on your podcasting device):
